Births up 2% in Grodno Oblast in January-October
In January-October this year the birth rate in Grodno Oblast rose by 2%, BelTA learnt from the regional statistics bureau.
In January-October, 10,460 babies were born, up 212 (or 2%) over the same period a year before. The total birth rate made 11.8 babies per 1,000 people (11.5 in the same period last year).
Over the ten months, 13,687 people died, down by 138 people over the same period last year. The total death rate made 15.4 per 1,000 people (15.5 in
January-October last year). The natural decline in population this year made 3,227 people or 3.6 per 1,000 people vs. 4 per 1,000 people in the same period last year. The major contributors to deaths were cardiovascular diseases (53.3% of all deceased), cancer (11.7%). Some 9.3% of people died of other causes.
Over 3,000 people (one if four) died in their working age, 31.85 of them died of cardiovascular diseases, 28.6% of other causes, 17.1% of cancer.
As of 1 November, the overall population of Grodno Oblast made 1,062,400 people, down by 3,600 compared with the beginning of the year.
