Golshany festival draws over 3,000 participants
Over 3,000 people took part in the international festival Golshany Castle 2010 which was held on 21 August, BelTA has learnt from one of the organizers of the festival Evgeny Parfiyanovich. The festival was held at the walls of the legendary Golshany Castle. The event opened with a historical performance featuring a bohort, archery, jousting and other medieval tournaments. The guests of the festival had an opportunity to get a glimpse of the life of a medieval knights’ camp. They were also offered to test their archery skills and try on knights’ armor. Taking part in the festival were six music groups playing medieval music. The performance concluded with a fire show. The festival Golshany Castle 2010 was timed to the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald, the 400th anniversary of the construction of the castle, the 730th anniversary of the foundation of Golshany and the 605th anniversary of the birth of Sofia of Golshany, the founder of the Jagiellon dynasty. “In July we sent our knights to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald to Poland, today we have received knights from Poland, Ukraine, Latvia and Lithuania who are going to show their prowess at the walls of Golshany Castle,” Evgeny Parfiyanovich said.
