Grodno Cannery’s export 13 times up in January-July
In January-July 2010 Grodno Cannery increased export by 13 times in comparison with the same period of last year to a total of $612,500, Grodno Cannery Director Stanislav Greshchik told BelTA.
The company exported 1.5 million conventional jars of ready-made tinned food as well as 337 tonnes of semi-finished carrots, apples, cranberries, and chokeberries, 16 and 9 times more than in January-July 2009. Export accounted for about 5% of the company’s output. Next year the company plans to increase the figure up to 20%, said Stanislav Greshchik.
Grodno Cannery’s products, virtually the entire product range, are shipped to Russia and Kazakhstan.
The company managed to increase export after commissioning a new processing facility that manufactures pickles, semi-finished mash products and juices using the latest technologies. The national budget and the oblast one had allocated over Br45.5 billion for the project.
In January-July 2010 Grodno Cannery turned out over Br7 billion worth of products in comparable prices, twice as much as in January-July 2009. The company turned out 6.8 million conventional jars of tinned food, 80% up.
Grodno Cannery was established in 1958. It evolved out of a district food factory to become Grodno Cannery in 2000. At present the company’s product range includes over 200 titles. In 2009 the output capacity stood at 13.5 million conventional jars per annum. The company employs around 170 people.
