Grodno Oblast, Augustow Canal to get logos
Grodno Oblast and Augustow Canal will have their own logos. The Physical Training, Sports and Tourism Department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee has announced a contest to create tourism logos of the oblast and the historical canal, senior specialist of the department Tatiana Lidyayeva told BelTA.
Anyone is welcome to send in an application, sketches of the logos on paper and in electronic form with descriptions. The winner in each nomination will be announced by a commission that includes tourism industry specialists, historians, painters, designers. Authors of the best logos will get a reward of 25 basic amounts (one basic amount stands at Br35,000 at present). Rights to use the logos will be handed over to the Physical Training, Sports and Tourism Department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee in line with the legally established procedure.
According to Tatiana Lidyayeva, the logos will be widely used on souvenirs, printed products and so on. There has been no single recognized symbol in Grodno Oblast before. Souvenirs mostly use the coat of arms of Grodno or one of the temples. The logos are supposed to highlight tourism opportunities of Augustow Canal and the oblast.
The expenses of the contest and future promotion of the logos are covered by the state program for developing the Belarusian part of the Augustow Canal in 2009-2011 and the national tourism development program for 2008-2010.
